Marissa "Mar" Garza is Mexican-American, mulit-media painter and illustrator based in Chicago, originally from Calumet City of the south suburbs and northwest Indiana. She's a self taught artist with a BFA in Traditional Animation. Her works are based on identity of the self as she continues to rediscover her humanity and connection with the world. After graduating college in 2013, it would be years before she picked up a pencil and paintbrush. She rekindled her love for art with everything leading up to now as she continues to pursue her passion. Her love of video games, sci-fi, anime and comic books has been the driving force to continue her creative goals since she was a child.
